Easy ticks towards your yearly CPD requirement!

Life has certainly been bizarre over the past year. The pandemic has affected not just our social lives but our professional lives too. Most of us have had to adapt to a sudden move away from the office, regular meetings and work social events, to a desk alone at home. Yes, a lot of discipline has been demanded to keep away from home distractions and to studiously work. As a legal professional, you have had to cope with the added task of maintaining secure working from home to ensure client confidentiality is upheld.

However, whilst your work has kept going throughout the COVID-19 crisis, have you ensured that you have kept up to date with your yearly Continuing Professional Development (CPD)? Yes, we know that it sounds like a tall order during a year of social distancing, but CPD as required by the (Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) does still remain mandatory.

We are inviting you to our series of four webinars for legal professionals to assist in enhancing your CPD. One of our experienced process servers will be present at each one to answer your questions and share their experiences in order to improve your professional knowledge.

Each webinar will last just one hour (we know that home working can be demanding when needing to attend long meetings or webinars) and is completely FREE OF CHARGE so there is no need to worry about persuading your firm for agreement from the training budget. We believe that your professional development gains from our webinars will be enough persuasion for you to attend our future in-person presentations once some normality arrives back in the world…

We will be covering the following essential training topics:

1. Lawful Investigations and processing data without consent:

Thursday 15th April at 10.30am, Tuesday 27th April at 2pm

The terms ‘Private Investigator’ and ’Enquiry Agent’ have unfortunately become tainted after the illegal activities of some private detectives came to the world’s attention. Despite the investigatory industry remaining unregulated, we are still affected by both the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 which have introduced new obligations on all of those who process data. We look at how legal professionals can ensure that they demonstrate compliance when instructing an investigator to investigate and process a subject’s data without the subject’s consent.

2. Tracing People

Wedensday 5th May at 10.30am

Through an overview of the various levels of tracing products available, we demonstrate how professional investigators can find missing debtors, beneficiaries, and respondents. We take you through a real case study to demonstrate the techniques and specialist products used, such as how a settings change on Facebook can reveal multitudes. We will have 30 experienced industry professionals present (including Richard Wooler, a people tracing specialist) to answer your questions and provide you with essential tips.

3. Asset Tracing

Wednesday 21st April at 2pm and Thursday 29th April 20 at 11am

Tremark offers four levels of asset tracing products. Our presentation demonstrates the techniques and methodology used, including the circumstances in which detailed personal information can be obtained, the compliance requirements, as well as the varying information that can be uncovered. Data obtained, coupled with the expertise of our qualified investigators can uncover previously untraceable assets and liabilities to provide you with a complete assessment and recommendations. Our most comprehensive Level 4 Report utilises deep personal credit data obtained from one of the UK’s leading credit agencies, and can yield additional detailed financial information on an individual’s bank accounts, mortgages, loans, credit cards, store cards and other utility accounts.

4. The Practicalities of Process Serving

Thursday 11th May 2021 at 10.30am

Ever wondered how a process server deals with an aggressive or evasive respondent? We look at how the instructing solicitor can help the process sever to achieve success and what other information can be gathered by the process server to assist the solicitor in meeting their wider objectives. We share our extensive knowledge and tips on successfully obtaining orders for substituted service and the various steps that should be taken to avoid unnecessary delays.
