Team Tremark Tackles the Pretty Muddy Race for Life

Team Tremark Tackles the Pretty Muddy Race for Life (Leeds, July 2025)

On Saturday 12 July 2025, Team Tremark braved the heat and took on Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K at Temple Newsam in Leeds. The course delivered exactly what it promised: a fun-filled obstacle course where participants climb, crawl and slide through mud. We got gloriously muddy, cheered each other on, and had a great laugh together. Best of all, we met our fundraising goal – collecting £945.00 plus £188.75 in Gift Aid (a total of £1,133.75) for cancer research. In short: we smashed it! 💪

What is Race for Life Pretty Muddy?

Race for Life’s Pretty Muddy is a 5K (just over 3 miles) muddy obstacle course open to all fitness levels. On race day you can climb, crawl and slide your way around the Pretty Muddy obstacle course at your own pace. Whether you dash through alone or tackle the course with friends and family, the goal is to enjoy the experience – and to raise money for life-saving cancer research. (CRUK’s tagline says it well: “no matter how cancer affects us, life is worth Racing for.”)

Behind the fun, every Pretty Muddy event supports the fight against cancer. All the money our team raised – and all donations from every Race for Life – go to fund Cancer Research UK’s work. As CRUK puts it, they “need your money to fund our life‑saving breakthroughs”. Those breakthroughs fund scientists, doctors and nurses who work to help beat cancer sooner. In short, mud and laughter translate directly into research, new treatments, and better outcomes for patients.

Race for Life by the Numbers

To date, Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s biggest fundraising series. Over 10 million people have run Race for Life events since 1994. Together they have raised over £970 million for cancer research. That funding has powered real advances. For example, CRUK notes that research they supported (including through Race for Life) has helped develop radiotherapy treatments now used by 130,000+ cancer patients in the UK every year. More broadly, CRUK reports that thanks to decades of research, “cancer survival has doubled in the last 40 years”. Every pound we raise through Pretty Muddy adds to this impact.

  • 10 million+ participants: Race for Life events have drawn over 10 million people since 1994.
  • £970+ million raised: Together runners have raised nearly £970 million for life-changing research.
  • 130,000+ patients helped: Funds support treatments (e.g. radiotherapy) used by 130,000+ people with cancer each year.
