Worlds Apart
A marriage breakdown often means that those concerned are irreconcilable and are poles apart. This was literally just so in a recent process servicing request that saw us serve a divorce petition from one our clients in the UK to a man in a remote village in Pakistan.
The instruction came about through Mark Hodgson, Managing Director, Tremark, responded to a Tweet on twitter asking “If anyone is able to recommend a reliable process server in the Kashmiri region of Pakistan, can you please DM me their details?”
Mark responded as Tremark have a very good agent in Pakistan and in due course we received instructions from a mid tier legal firm.
The actual instructions received were to serve a gentleman in Mirpur, the Kashmir region of Pakistan, with a divorce petition.
Within 3 days of receiving instruction Tremark ‘s agent in Pakistan journeyed to Mirpur and after making local enquiries was directed to a house where he met the gentleman in question. The documents were served and the receiver was then asked, as a way of us verifying his identity to our client, to sign a certificate confirming receipt of the papers along with our agent taking his photograph.
We were then able to quickly and fully update the client providing them with the written and photographic evidence to show their client her former husband being served with the divorce petition within days of the actual serve taking place. At short time later the client was also provided with a notarised affidavit exhibiting the original signed certificate and the photograph.
So, while some individuals may wish to distance themselves from each other, in reality we were, as called for, able to trace a path half way across the World and legally serve the required papers.
