Credibility, integrity and competence.
The Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators is based on the SIA specifications of core competency training for Private Investigators. It covers the skills and understanding needed to operate as a professional investigator, including planning and gathering information for investigations. Attainment of the award provides evidence that the holder understands the law and ethics as they relate to private investigations and that they demonstrate credibility, integrity and competence.
Statutory regulation
Professional investigators do not currently require a licence to practise. However, in 2013 the Home Office announced its intention for the SIA to regulate private investigation activities. This is expected to come into force shortly.
In the absence of statutory regulation Tremark continue to demonstrate self-regulation though the attainment of certifications BS102000 ‘Code of Practice for the provision of Investigative Services’ and the internationally recognised quality management system (QMS) ISO9001. Tremark are subject to in-depth 12 monthly audits by UKAS accredited certification body SSIAB.and
