Scotland is a separate legal jurisdiction with its own courts and rules, where formal service, known as citation, is carried out by court authorised officers: sheriff officers for sheriff court matters and messengers-at-arms for the Court of Session. English proceedings and documents for Scottish addresses are served through these officers or by permitted postal methods, and Tremark arranges the whole process.
The Civil Procedure Rules govern England and Wales only. Scottish procedure has its own service framework, and its officers of court hold official appointments with defined territorial commissions, a very different model from the unregulated English process server. Serving English court documents on a person or company in Scotland is treated as service outside the jurisdiction of the English courts, though within the United Kingdom the process is far simpler than serving abroad, with no Hague Convention machinery involved.
Tremark coordinates service across Scotland through established sheriff officer firms, from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the Highlands and Islands, managing the instruction, the documents, the timescale and the evidence as a single job for the instructing solicitor. You receive one point of contact, one fixed quotation and a certificate or execution of service in the form the receiving court requires. The same network handles Scottish documents for service on parties in England and Wales in the reverse direction.
Tell us which court issued the documents and any deadline they carry, whether personal service is required or postal citation is acceptable, and anything known about the recipient’s circumstances. Scottish addresses can also be traced through our usual sources where the recipient has moved. Our Scotland page covers the full service range north of the border.
Tremark's nationwide team of process servers completes most instructions at a fixed fee, with a certificate of service included as standard. Get an exact price for your instruction in under a minute.
